New York -- For the seventh consecutive year, The School of Performing
Arts Association (SPAA) celebrated the return of alumni to the former
School of Performing Arts (PA) at the location of the original building
at 120 West 46th Street.
The event, held on the weekend of May 4th and 5th, saw the reappearance
of dozens of classes, who were greeted by retired faculty members
SHIRLEY KATZ-COHEN, MURRAY BRAUNSTEIN, FLORENCE SCHWAGER, BILL BRITTEN,
and BEL KAUFMANN. Also there, serving double duty as both former
student and faculty, was JO-ANN BRUGGEMAN, one of the special few
who later returned to PA to instruct and influence new generations
of students.
One of the other highlights of the May weekend, making its debut
appearance, was PA Remembered, a photo exhibit created and
donated to SPAA by the Class of 1975, members of which had maintained
an exhaustive archive of photos from their time as students at the
school.
This year was also marked by the generous invitation of Matilda
Hohensee, director the LaGuardia Alumni Association, for SPAA to
attend as guests of the PA/MA/LAG Reunion Gala at the current LaGuardia
School. Their event was held at the Lincoln Center building on June
8th and 9th.
There, PA alumni from the 1950s thru the 1980s enjoyed the photo
exhibit PA Remembered (which was installed for that weekend), as
well as a tour, arranged by LaGuardia, of the 46th Street building
once the home of PA. This tour was led by PA alumni JOHN STEINMETZ
and JO-ANN BRUGGEMAN. The LaG attendees also enjoyed learning about
the PA alumni association (SPAA) and made plans to join the SPAA
online community.

New York --Now in the planning stages for next June, a gala celebration
to commemorate the 60th year of PAÕs founding was announced
recently in a joint statement from SPAA President Steve Lewis and
LaG Alumni Director MATILDA Hohensee.
More details will be posted at the new PA website www.highschoolofperformingarts.com
as they become available.

Alumni and webguys Mick Andreano and Steve Lewis announced the
completion of efforts to create one destination on the web for PA
alumni, faculty, and friends of the arts.
Prior to this project, which took nearly six months to complete,
confusion and duplication of effort reigned as two websites existed
to serve the PA community.
Now both former site addresses will take visitors to www.highschoolofperformingarts.com,
so visit today. You can search for missing friends, contact the
ones you find, post photos, as well as learn about PA and SPAA and
the alumni who labor tirelessly behind the scenes to deliver the
wonderful alumni experience for all PA grads.
Be sure to visit www.highschoolofperformingarts.com today!
