HISTORY
1992:
Barry Plaxen (MU 55) went to the classes of '54 and '55 35th anniversaries
at LaGuardia in 1989 and 1990 and was disappointed at the small number
of attendees.
In 1992, he held a reunion for the classes of '54,
'55 and '56 at his upstate home. Shirley Katz-Cohen (faculty) also attended.
At that reunion, PAers talked about preferring NOT to go to reunions based
on graduation date but wanted to see friends and colleagues from the classes
before and after theirs, a phenomenon peculiar only to PA as we dance,
act and make music with schoolmates from other classes. Most other HS
student don't mix with upper and lower schoolmates as much.
1995
After about two years as a volunteer assisting the then-head of the LaGuardia
Alumni (AFLAG) office, in 1995 PA: THE FIRST TEN (PATFT) was formed and
a "teacher's honor ceremony" was held at 120w 46th Street. it
was very heavily attended by both former faculty and grads.
1998
PATFT and AFLAG co-sponsor the 50th anniversary ceremony at both locations.
Building Plaque unveiled.
2000
PATFT and the Class of '66 merge to form SPAA.
2007
PATFT is alive again and gets its own page on new website.
This page is still under construction and highlights
from the 1995 and 1998 events will be expanded soon.
