HENRY LEWIS
(DR51) passed away on December 30, 2009. He got his start as a teenager in New York City, working on WNYC-AM (820) in 1945. Overall, Henry Lewis would work parts of six decades on the non-commercial station, and he also spent time on other stations in the New York area, including classical WQXR. Rex Doane, Programming Promotions Manager at WNYC says of Lewis, “He was of that generation of radio announcers who had a style few people could replicate, a style that stood out and was meant to.”
