What is this site and how do I find anything?
 
We are striving to make this an easy site to navigate. Here are some tips for you. Of course you can always write us for more information and we'll update this FAQ as we get more feedback
 
This very first page is the one you'll see when you come to our site. It might not look exactly like this but it is close enough. However you don't want to learn about everything. Let's get down to the main reason you are here. To look for friends or sign up as a member.
 
 
Click on Alumni. You will see a screen like the one below. I numbered the different sections A1 to A7 for ease of use.
 
 
Click here for A1 This is your member login and takes to to an accounts page that is basically used to modify your picture gallery or add subscriptions to different programs. You will probably only use this to add pictures to your gallery since we do not have different programs you probably don't need to worry about this. Click here to see what you can do on this page.
Click here for A2 This will ask you to log in as well but instead of being taken to your subscription and gallery it will take you to your profile. This is your main area of what people will see when the look for you. All of your personal information is not available for either guests or any alumni. Click here to see how and what you can modify in your profile. You can get directly to the accounts page from the profile page as well.

Learn how to do this first for fun

This is where the fun begins. Clicking on this will bring you to the year page where you can select a particular year and browse through all the alumni.

Click here for A4 Don't remember the year the person was in. Go to this page to search by first name, last name or both.
Click here for A5 Our Faculty. We will have a section soon to put your comments about each faculty member
Click here for A6 In Memoriam. This is a memorial page for all alumni and faculty that passed away. There is a place for you to upload your comments and when approved it will be there for all to see
Click here for A7 This is the PA Calendar of events. You can see what's going on all over the country and leave your own calendar of events as well. The Alumni site will approve your calendar within a few hours and it will be available for all to see. Feel free to put many and recurring events.
A1 - Member Login and your utilities
Once you've clicked on the Member Login menu you'll see the following:

Note that there are two different selections. If you have already signed up and have a login click on number 1:

When you click on number 1 you'll see the following:

Here is where you can put your login name in number 1 and your password in number 2. If by chance you've forgotten you password you can put your email address in number 3 and we will send you your login and password automatically. If you've forgotten your login as well just send an email to support@highschoolofperformingarts.com and we will send you your login information as quick as humanly possible.

If you've successfully logged in you will see the following:

The Membership Information page is a place you'll use mainly to update your profile (BIO, name address etc) as well as to administer your picture gallery that will be available for all your friends to see. Number 3 is used mainly to show your subscriptions. There are only two types a free one and one that helps defer our costs for using the old building each year.

If you want to change your password or profile click on number 2 click here for instructions on how to change your profile.

If you want to manage your picture gallery click on number 1. You will see the following:

Note that this particular gallery is just used to show you what it will look like when you upload pictures. The first time you get to this screen you will not see any images. To upload an image it is like any computer program. You have a browse button to locate a file on your computer. When you click on "Browse" you'll see the following:

Locate your file and chose the first one you want to show and click on open. Then click on "Upload File". If all has gone well you will see the following:

When you return to the page you will see your new image on your gallery page. Please note that at this time we do not have any way to be able to position or order your images. This might become a feature in the future but not now.

When you are done you can click on the RETURN button to get back to your Membership Information or you can just close the page. Now when people visit your page they will have the opportunity to see all of your pictures.

 

A2 - Change Profile
The change profile page is one of the most powerful parts of our web site. This is where you can change your settings like phone numbers addresses as well as putting in your biography information. When you select Change Profile you'll see the following:

Let's go over the above one by one:

1. You're username. you can change it to any username that isn't used yet. Note that is you use an existing name you'll get an error message.

2. Your first and last name. Please put your maiden name in as well. Either hyphenated or otherwise. We'll try to make a new field shortly that will allow you to put in your maiden name.

3. Your email address. This must be up to date so we can write to you. Please realize that no one will be able to collect your email address. This is encrypted and unavailable to anyone but the administrators of this site.

4. 5. Here is where you can change your password and confirm it. Please remember your password and never give out your password to anyone. If you lose it just email us and we'll have the system automatically send it to you.

6. 7. 8. Well, you all should know these fields. Please fill them in and update them as you change them. We do not use these for anything except to call you if we haven't heard from you. We worry about our classmates.

9. 10. 11. 12 These are pretty self explainatory.

13. This is perhaps your most important field. This is your biography that people will see when they search for you.

14. 15. 16. 17. 18. This is your contact information and please fill it in for us. We don't send out tons of mailings. Maybe 2 a year so please keep this up to date.

19. If you click on unsubscribe, your name will never be up on the site and no one will be able to find you. This is your choice.

When you are finished with changing your profile click on the save button and all the fields will be changed.

 

A3 - Year Page
 
This is an easy one. Just click on a year and you will brought to that years alumni that are signed up on the site.
 
 
When you click on a particular year (in this case 1964) you'll see the following:
 
Now you can scroll down through the years classmates and find anyone signed up. If they have an email you can click on their email and send an email to this person. Their email address will not be given out to you so make sure you put a proper return email or your friend cannot answer you.

Also please note that we will not tolerate spamming and have gone through a lot to make sure this doesn't happen. We log all IP addresses of people who send mail and will ban them from using this site if they use it for unsolicited emailing. (Click here to see how use the alumni page)

 
 
A4 - Search Classes
 
This too is an easy way to find people. Just type in a first and/or last name and click and see all the alumni with that name
 
 
A5 - Faculty
 
There will be more information shortly about the Faculty
 
 
 
A6 - In Memoriam

A7 - PA Calendar of Events

Using the alumni page
 
Note that I have used my name as an example. There are a few things you can do on this page. One is see you classmates. Another is email them if they have an email address and the last is to see any pictures your classmate might have uploaded.
 
 
Click on the Email to email someone (click here for instructions). Click here for gallery information
 
 
Emailing a classmate
 
When you email the classmate you'll have a screen similar to the one below:
 
 
Please fill in all fields. If you don't fill in the fields you will get an error and will have to fix it before continuing. Once you've filled in everything just click on the Send Mail button and your mail will be delivered to your friend. You will see the next image after it sends.
 
 
You're email is now on it's way.
 
Using a classmates gallery
 
Using the gallery is simple. Just click on the link to it and you'll see something like the following:
 
 
There can be many images for you to see so you'll have to scroll down the page to see them all.
 
 
You can also enlarge the image by clicking on it. It will open a slightly larger image in a new browser as shown below.
