The planning for PA's 60th Anniversary gala began in earnest in winter 2007. A kick-off fundraising celebration was held on November 3, 2007 at a mid-town nite spot and created the necessary momentum to marshall the volunteer forces needed to pull of what turned out to be an overflow crowd of well-wishers at the June Gala. Alumni from the 1950s through the 1980s turned out in force to support SPAA at this event.

Volunteer alumni met with the Board of Directors regularly thoughout the year to handle the myriad details that a celebration such as PA's 60th would present. Past, present and future SPAA and Board members taking part in this task were: Steve Lewis, Margaret Luca, Mick Andreano, Marianne Cohen, Jo-Ann Victor, Ingid Eisen, Robert Lewis, Bruce Heath, Irene Dranow, Diane Lazinsky, Roslyne Hahn, Cheryl Bass, Patrice Harrington, John Steinmetz.
