The PA Classes of of 1970, 71 and 72 capture the
spirit of the late 60s with these poignant photos of several peace rallies
in Times Square, Bryant Park, and Columbus Circle in the winter and early
spring of 1970, attended by such recognizable faces as Pete Seegar,
Tom Paxton, Peter Paul and Mary, Hair composer Jerome
Ragni, and Ossie Davis... Photos courtesy Mathius Mack Gertz

Here's Mack's recollections: "Yes the pictures of PA students
marching was one rally that ended at Columbus circle with a PA dramatic
antiwar presentation. My recollection is that all of these events took
place in winter/spring of 1970. the pix of celebs at times square was
another event. we were one of many schools informally participating
along with the general public. it was a "Broadway" antiwar rally. Because
of us being PA, the organizers specifically reached out to us to participate.
the celeb pix with the long hairs and the black guy was Rado or Ragni,
the writer/producers of HAIR and one of their cast members. they were
singing "Let the sun shine in"; the kid running through the park alone
by the NY Public library is me, snapped by a "girl friend". The PA'ers
taking part in the demonstrations were from all departments, from classes
of 1970, 71 and 72."
