Legacy School Alumni and the LaGuardia Era
Alumni history requires a little care because today's Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School represents two predecessor institutions: the High School of Music & Art and the School of Performing Arts. The two schools became one organization in 1961 and began the 1984 school year together in the new LaGuardia facility. As a result, modern alumni lists often combine graduates from both legacy schools with graduates of LaGuardia itself.
This section focuses primarily on people documented as having attended or graduated from the legacy School of Performing Arts. Where a person attended without graduating, or studied a discipline different from the one for which they later became famous, that distinction is stated rather than simplified.
